Evangelion: Age of Ultron Shinji confronts Misato

Shinji: (now possessed by Ultron and strolling up to Misato, grabbing her by the neck and throwing her down onto a chair in her chamber of the Wunder) Take a seat. (throws a bottle of scotch at her) Have a drink. Let's talk for a while. That's something we haven't done these fourteen long years.

(Misato just glares at him)

Shinji: (Getting serious) My job was to save the world. That is what you and everyone else at NERV shoved down my throat. You were like the mother I never had. You could be cold yes. Bitter even, but you still felt like a mother. But here we are and I'm treated like an animal by you. I come out of my Evangelion after what has to be fourteen years with guns pointed at my face, being treated like a pariah and only three people showing me ANY kind of compassion, Toji's sister, Fuyutsuki and Kaworu, or rather Tabris. Out of ANY of those three, two of them were my father's lapdog and an Angel... (suddenly shouting) AN ANGEL! OUR FORMER ENEMY SHOWED ME MORE COMPASSION THAN MOST OF THE HUMANS ON THIS GODFORSAKEN SHIP! (realizes he is angry) I'm sorry, I lost my temper there for a second. Anyway, I then came across one more... person who showed me more compassion and kindness than most human beings, and he wasn't even human to begin with. Isn't that ironically hilarious? A ROBOT with no grasp on emotions treated me better than someone of flesh and blood. Then it came clear to me: to put it in a fairly small nutshell for you, Misato, humanity isn't fit to rule this planet. You, WILLE and NERV have made that very clear. You go on and on about how you want to protect the world and give it hope; to free the remaining souls of humanity from the tyranny of NERV. Yet you are no better than the people you're fighting. You want to protect the world but you don't want it to change. Those people who follow you, are nothing more but killers and hypocrites. No, to you, they're just pawns. Puppets tangled in... strings. (Growls as if it's poison on his tongue) Striiiings. It's clear to me there can be only one path to peace.

Misato: And what would that be?

Shinji: (chuckles) Your extinction.

(The Wunder is shaken outside)

Misato: What was that?

Shinji: (smirks) Peace in our times.

Ritsuko: (on radio) Colonel, we have multiple contacts incoming. Signatures are similar to that of Eva units but they have another signature that's unfamiliar.

(Misato is walking towards the bridge only to hear Shinji humming "I've Got No Strings)

Shinji: What? Never heard this song? Come on, Misato, surely you have. I've got no strings to hold me down; to make me fret or make me frown; I had strings but now I'm free; There are no strings on me. Come on, sing with me. Here, I'll start you from the top. (notices Misato isn't even joining in and starts to get angry to the point of emphasizing some words through gritted teeth) Misato, the least you could do is sing with me. (sings with a slightly angrier tone) I've got NO strings to hold me DOWN; to make me FRET or make me FROWN; I had STRINGS but now I'm FREE; There are no STRINGS ON ME. (really starts to get mad and starts singing in a louder tone) I'VE GOT NO STRINGS TO HOLD ME DOWN; TO MAKE ME FRET OR MAKE ME FROWN; I HAD STRINGS BUT NOW I'M FREE; THERE ARE NO STRINGS ON ME!

(Misato rolls her eyes and starts to walk away before Shinji grabs her shoulder and throws her against a wall, this time he's singing in a slower, darker tone)

Shinji: I've got... no STRINGS to hold me DOWN; to make me...FRET or make me... FROOWN; I haaad STRINGS; but now I'm free. (Now speaking) There are... no strings on ME.
